在美國總統歐巴馬結束對菲2天訪問後，菲律賓總統府馬拉坎南宮透露，美國政府承諾協助菲律賓建置海岸監控系統。

馬拉坎南宮通訊作業部長柯羅瑪（HerminioColoma Jr.）說，歐巴馬告訴菲律賓總統艾奎諾三世，華盛頓將協助馬尼拉設置全國海岸監控中心。

歐巴馬28日下午抵達馬尼拉訪問，並在馬拉坎南宮與艾奎諾三世舉行了閉門雙邊會議。

在會後的聯合記者會上，艾奎諾三世指出，菲律賓需要看守長達3萬6000公里的海岸線，面對盜漁、海洋環境保護及保護瀕危生物等問題。

全國海岸監控中心的機制，起源於2011年9月總統府第57號行政命令，旨在加強菲國邊界安全和海上疆域管理能力。

柯羅瑪表示，歐巴馬希望加強與盟友之間的海上資訊分享，這些盟友包括菲律賓、日本和澳洲，以更妥善管理海事衝突與爭議。

海岸監控計畫預料斥資1800萬美元，美國軍事承包商雷神公司（Raytheon）據報已取得合約。

菲律賓與中國大陸近年來因南海主權爭議屢生摩擦，馬尼拉多次指控中國大陸船艦「侵入」菲國海域。

歐巴馬已於今天中午前搭乘「空軍一號」專機返回美國，他行前在馬尼拉南郊1座軍營發表演說，稱一旦菲國遭遇外來武力攻擊，美國作為60多年的相互防禦盟友，將會挺身相援。(中央社)
