根據日本共同社報導，越南空軍在馬來西亞航空MH370班機疑似墜毀海域搜索時，發現蔓延長達20公里油漬，目前包括馬來西亞、中國、菲律賓及越南軍方都已投入搜索工作。

即便越南官方已宣布，馬來西亞航空MH370班機已經墜毀，但馬來西亞官方截至目前為止，仍不願證實該班機已經墜毀，不過南海周邊各國都已派出搜索隊協助搜尋。

據其他家媒體報導，越南已派出兩架搜索飛機，馬來西亞則派出一架飛機、兩架直升機及四艘船艦，菲律賓海軍也派出三艘巡邏船及一架偵察機協助搜索，中國運輸部則出動兩艘專業救助船「南海就115」、「南海救101」前往失事海域進行搜救，同時也發佈兩次航行警告，要求所有經過疑似失事海域的船隻要特別注意海面情況，一發現可疑況要馬上通報。
