新北市榮光育幼院國小組院童，8日到騎警隊平日訓練的馬場參觀，跟溫馴的馬匹有近距離的接觸，並安排院童騎乘馬匹感受體驗，希望透過騎警隊員陪同騎乘或是牽乘的方式，讓這些小朋友們能打開心房，並感受到警察之愛心與關懷，改變一向陽剛、威嚴的警察大哥、大姊形象。同時也喚起社會大眾對育幼院院童更多的關注與協助。

警察局表示，騎警隊成軍已逾十年，平常除了平（假）日能在新板特區、漁人碼頭、八里左岸及鶯歌老街等4個觀光景點看到騎警隊隊員英姿煥發的身影外，也積極配合各級公家機關及民間團體辦理犯罪預防宣導或參與各類公益活動，為能更深入參與公益並普及到社會每一個角落。並指本次活動是希望藉由警方的主動關懷，喚起社會大眾給予育幼院院童更多的關注與協助，讓相關的院童能感受社會的關懷與扶持，使社會充滿愛與和諧。

新北市榮光育幼院係民國54年創設於新北市永和區，民國57年正式奉准立案，收容對象為年齡2~18足歲社會局轉介個案、託孤自收個案、其他機構轉介個案、單親家庭沒有扶養能力者、低收入戶榮民或原住民者、父母一方重病傷病或服刑中致生活困難無力扶育、父母身心障礙無法撫養、家庭變故無法維持教養及遭棄養幼童。
