為因應強颱天兔暴風圈進入南部陸地，國軍待命馳援恆春半島，恆楓聯防區有1000位官兵、2輛AAV-7兩棲突擊車等保持機動，隨時出動救援。

國防部表示，海軍陸戰隊前進指揮所已於20日晚完成開設，立即指揮恆楓聯防區內部隊，依據地方政府申請需求，完成裝填沙包、乾糧物資搬運，並預防性撤離滿州鄉潛勢地區民眾，嚴防強颱可能帶來的威脅。

軍方指出，在恆楓聯防區有預置2輛AAV7兩棲突擊車及各式機具15類3800多項和1000位官兵在營待命兵力，將視風雨情勢及各鄉公所需求，派出適當人員、機具，以確保民眾安全。

除此之外，8月康芮颱風襲台期間，內政部長李鴻源曾指責南部縣市開設應變中心時間過晚，導致豪雨釀成災情，這次李鴻源稱讚地方政府開設應變中心時機掌握情形比過去好。
