谷歌攜業者 建跨太平洋光纜

（法新社東京12日電） 谷歌（Google）與5家亞洲電信公司合作，興建一條橫跨太平洋、造價達3億美元的海底光纜，力圖迎合激增的網路使用。

這些業者表示，這項計畫名為FASTER，將從日本的兩個地點架設一條長達9000公里的光纖海纜通往美國，過一段時間將延伸至其他亞洲地區。

業者指出，這條光纜在美國將延展連接西岸大城，如洛杉磯、舊金山、波特蘭及西雅圖。

FASTER執行委員會主席在聲明中表示，然而「FASTER光纜系統具有歷來跨太平洋路線的最大設計容量，是全世界最長的傳輸纜線之一」。

聲明說，也參與這項計畫的包括日本行動電信業者KDDI公司（KDDI）、中國移動、中國電信、馬來西亞Global Transit以及新加坡電信公司（SingTel）。

業者表示，日本NEC公司（NEC）將興建此光纜系統，預計2016年上半年投入營運服務。（譯者：中央社徐崇哲）
