台南市重症兒童關懷協會由罹患重症兒童的家長與醫護人員等共同成立，類似的家長團體多在北部，南部家長期待給重病孩子更多溫暖與愛護，從去年底開始籌備今舉辦成立大會，目前共有38名成員、18名病童。

曾獲周大觀文教基金會「抗癌圓夢助學金」的王嘉鳳，3歲被診斷出患有神經母細胞癌，從小接受無數次化療，被醫生判定僅能活到12歲，即將升國一的她表示，雖然沒有健康的身體，但重症兒都有一顆善良、樂天知命的心，看著媽媽們彼此打氣加油，感謝的心更是溢於言表，自己也會好好努力活下去。
