西區決賽開打前，馬刺不相信雷霆Serge Ibaka就此報銷。果然沒錯，雷霆輸掉前兩戰後，Ibaka及時復出，避免球隊陷入0比3落後。

這一點，被Popovich拿來當作開玩笑題材。

第三戰馬刺輸球後，記者詢問「Manu Ginobili的傷礙事嗎？」

Popovich回答：「Manu很好，不然的話就要季後賽報銷了。」
