英國利物浦大學的學生團隊設計出一款新型自行車。它不僅外觀奇特，而且時速高達90英里(約145公里)。該車預計於2015年參加世界人力速度挑戰賽，屆時有望刷新2012年由荷蘭團隊設計的自行車所創下的最高時速紀錄83.1英里(約133.7公里)。

中國經濟網據英國《都市日報》報導，這款自行車名為『阿里昂1號』(ARION1)，外殼設計為流線型，這使得方向盤略顯滑稽。並且阿里昂1號屬於斜躺式騎行，騎手與地面僅相距數公分。騎手可以通過相機或電腦顯示器來辨別道路。

來自英國機械工程師協會的菲莉帕 奧爾德姆認為，這個專案十分吸引人，也是車輛工程領域中十分前沿的專案。運用正確的工程學方法使自行車時速達90英里是完全有可能的。不過，他建議團隊在參賽前必須保證將自行車的一切部件，無論是其流線型外殼設計還是輪胎的型號，都設計得完美無缺。

對此超快自行車，人們褒貶不一。有人認為，這款自行車時速過高，颼颼的大風會讓騎行者難以忍受。但也有人覺得一旦流行起來，那麼它至少能讓騎手在騎行過程中相對輕鬆，感覺更為良好。
