美國太空總署(NASA)日前將8百隻螞蟻送上太空，讓牠們在國際太空站理生活，藉此研發更強的機器人，打算用於探索災難現場。

根據英國《每日郵報》（Daily Mail）報導， 這8百隻螞蟻一開始分為8群生活，藉由觸角、嗅覺判斷附近有多少隻螞蟻，並相互合作尋找食物，當搜尋範圍越來越大，移動方式會從打圈改為直線。

負責此項研究計畫的教授康特里曼表示，在太空站微重力的狀態下，這個做法行不通，因此螞蟻將會發展出不同的生存策略，而這套新方法正是這項研究的目標。
