因工作意外陷入昏迷的足球教練Wayne Thorne，竟然在聽到子弟兵獲勝的消息後醒了過來，雖然他還得面對漫長的復健，但已經是一個奇蹟般的甦醒。

Thorne是英格蘭西南聯盟拉克霍爾運動家隊的教練，平時擔任鉗工的他，在一次廚房裝配工作後發生車禍，他不但傷到頭部，16根肋骨與心臟動脈都受重傷，肺部也有刺穿性的傷害。

經過醫生手術搶救後， Thorne陷入了昏迷，這也讓運動家全隊上下氣氛陷入低迷，他的妻子Amanda每天都在床邊告訴他球隊季前賽的表現。

就在這個月10日，球隊在落後兩球的情況下，以4：3逆轉拿下第一場季賽勝利，Amanda一如往常向丈夫報告球隊成績時，Thorne竟然睜開眼睛。

俱樂部主席Paul Rankin表示，Thorne一直是球隊成功的因素，很高興這成為他甦醒的動力，球隊將以等他歸隊為首要任務，「我們要往更高層級聯賽邁進，他是不可或缺的要素。」

Thorne表示：「我要感謝所有關心我的人，但我還有一個漫長的復建之路要走，但我會在那裡的，過去兩週我的家人歷經了地獄般生活，我愛他們，也感謝妻子每天向我報告球隊狀況。」
