今夏的活塞可說是動作頻頻，繼老將Chauncey Billups回鍋後，又陸續簽下Josh Smith、Brandon Jennings等重量級自由球員，現在又傳出活塞想簽下首位出櫃球員──Jason Collins的消息。

Collin生涯表現普通，本季效力於塞爾提克，在季中被交易至巫師，全季上場時間不多，總計出賽38場留下平均1.1分1.6籃板的成績。他在5月時坦承自己的同性戀性向，一舉登上全美運動雜誌封面，一度成為球迷討論的話題人物。

根據《ESPN》的報導，活塞有意簽下這名7呎（約213公分）中鋒，以增添球隊禁區替補戰力。

活塞球團認為Collins的經驗和身材能夠給予球隊有效的支援，可以讓內線年輕雙塔Greg Monroe和Andre Drummond得到一定的協助。

至於Collins本人目前則是持續在洛杉磯自我訓練，以保持一定的身手等待合約上門。

「老實說這一切對我而言就像前幾年的休賽期一樣，我必須保持耐心，希望能夠得到工作的機會，總是有支球隊會需要有人來填補他們的球員名單。」Collins在日前接受採訪時表示。 (接下一頁)
