彭博社報導，冰島在進軍高級金融市場失敗後，小精靈和冰河開始幫忙重振冰島經濟。

2008年3大銀行破產重創冰島經濟後，冰島決定回到成長的根本，派出捕魚船及宣傳冰河與火山美景吸引觀光客來救經濟。當地人也打出民間傳說這張牌，以冰島為小精靈和其他神祇的故鄉來賺外匯。

拜2007年來冰島克朗貶值約90%之賜，這些努力都獲得回報。觀光局的資料顯示，2010到2012年造訪冰島的觀光客增加38%，去年達到67.3萬人，比當地人口多一倍以上。這波觀光潮帶來新的觀光事業，根據冰島統計局，觀光事業數量從2008年開始飆升41%。

直昇機服務公司Nordurflug ehf執行長哈拉德森（Birgir Omar Haraldsson）說：「遠離觀光人潮、與寬闊的大自然獨處的需求成長。」這家公司提供以直升機載客到冰河和其他難以到達的地方野餐的服務。

根據Landsbankinn hf經濟師瓊生（Arnar I.Jonsson），去年觀光業占國內生產毛額（GDP）6.2%，比前1年多0.9個百分點，更比2010年多1.7個百分點。愛爾蘭的觀光業占GDP約2.7%左右。觀光業為經濟規模達140億美元的冰島重大營收來源，在境外克朗兌歐元大貶80%後，冰島也設法吸引外資，及逐漸停止2008年實施的資本管制。

冰島熱門觀光景點包括間歇泉和溫泉池藍潟湖（Blue Lagoon）。大間歇泉（Great Geysir）為最大的間歇泉，1915年起大部分時間都處於停歇狀態。

觀光部長阿納都特爾（Ragnheidur Elin Arnadottir）這個月受訪時表示，冰島政府力圖從觀光潮取得一杯羹，也是為了確保冰島天然資源不受破壞的計畫之一。

【綜合報導】性侵累犯林國政假釋40天就犯下震驚全國的雲林葉小妹姦殺命案，一、二審均判死，最高法院卻以智能低下等理由，日前改判無期徒刑定讞。立委王育敏看不下去聲請非常上訴，檢察總長黃世銘調查後認定，最高法院擅自摒棄專業鑑定、無視卷證顯示林男非智能低下，判決顯有適用法則不當、率斷、邏輯推演令人不解等重大違失，昨正式提起非常上訴，要求更審。

最高法院回應：「等收到非常上訴書，會依法律程序處理。」但根據《刑事訴訟法》規定，對於被告不利的非常上訴案件，更審刑度不能對被告不利，亦即若原確定判決判無期徒刑，非常上訴的結果，就不能改判被告死刑。
