本世紀末全球人口可能達110億

聯合國主持的研究分析顯示，全球人口現為70億人，而到本世紀末可能達到110億人，比以前預計的多出20億人，主要是非洲出生率提高所致。

研究人員說，過去20年各方大致認為世界人口會達到90億人，然後停止增加，可是他們發現世界人口有70%機率不會在本世紀停止成長。

預計增加的人口絕大多數將集中在非洲。非洲現有10億人，到本世紀末可能增加到40億人。研究報告說，到本世紀末，有80%機率非洲人口將達到35億至51億。

現有44億人口的亞洲，預計將在2050年達到大約50億人的最高點，然後開始減少。北美、歐洲、拉丁美洲和加勒比海地區，可望分別維持10億人口。

地球人口增加，可能助長氣候變遷、傳染病和貧窮等問題。
