國內酒駕肇事案例頻傳，已經成為國人極為重視的議題。根據警政署統計，近6年（95-100年）道路交通事故主要肇事原因均以「酒醉（後）駕駛失控」居第一，其中酒駕違規遭取締人數，就高達56萬人次。在去年（101年）1-9月道路交通事故分析資料中顯示，因為酒駕肇事死亡人數達到399人，幾乎平均每天都有一人死於酒駕肇事中。
