好不容易Intel在7系列晶片組中內建USB 3.0控制器，正式帶動USB 3.0裝置的普及。加上晶片廠商單晶片USB 3.0控制器陸續出貨，將儲存裝置價格再往下拉。就拿USB 3.0隨身碟作為例子，同樣儲存容量的價格，USB 3.0隨身碟只比USB 2.0版本多個100～200元，雖然在此便宜的價位帶買不到寫入速度快的產品，但是讀取速度卻可受惠USB 3.0介面的頻寬翻兩翻。 另外1種急需渴望USB 3.0介面頻寬的周邊裝置即為無線網卡，特別是進入802.11ac之後，1T1R就有433Mbps的頻寬，2T2R的吞吐量就必須呼叫USB 3.0頻寬來幫忙，否則以USB 2.0的理論頻寬480Mbps來計算，將成為802.11ac無線網卡的傳輸瓶頸。
