有策略的做事情也就是「不短視」的意思，你必須察覺同事或對手沒發現的事情，並且把它們納入考量。但不短視不是假裝你可以看到未來的意思，相反的，你必須以地面上的事實為基礎，而不是模糊描述遙遠的未來。

在開始之前，我推薦所有的創業 CEO 應該投資一些時間去了解認知科學 (Cognitive Science)。經過幾百萬年的演化，人類的大腦有其既定的構造與工作方式。順著它的設計使用，你會得到越來越強的認知與思考能力。逆著它的設計使用，則有可能不斷受挫、沮喪。除了精進自己的認知，我們還需要設計各種結構，去精進同仁們的思考，因此了解大腦運作的方式，是非常關鍵的背景知識。

神奇的「寫下來」
卡內基並不是從清單的內容得到價值，相反的，價值是在建構清單的過程中產生的。人們有清楚的目標，並且會自動像導彈一般的追逐目標，這樣的想像從根本上就是錯誤的。人類的「腦筋」是有限的，而其認知的能力也是有限的。

人腦最大的問題是「健忘」。所以當你在思考一個複雜問題的解決方案時，常常滿足了 A B C，卻忘了 D E F，滿足了 B C D F，回頭又忘了 A 與 E。這背後是有原因的，人腦是非常多的「迴路」所組成的構造，這些迴路都有半衰期，剛剛連通一次，過幾秒鐘它就斷掉了，這是所謂短期記憶。而長期記憶，就是如果不斷連通這個迴路，則它就可以持久一點。

把需要解決的所有問題、其相對限制條件，及過程中想到的靈感寫下來，在寫的過程中有機會觸發更多迴路，也就是所謂聯想，並且可以加深記憶 ─ 視覺辨識當初是用來記憶危險與食物的地點，因此比想像力的記憶來得長久許多。一旦寫好之後，這個清單就變成你的「外部長期記憶」，未來即使因為大腦迴路半衰失去記憶，你還是有辦法克服健忘的問題。

所以我每天寫網誌，見人就說「Leaders are not just readers, they’re writers, too.」，背後其實有些科學的道理。

思考與不確定的痛苦
當大腦承受著必須思考出脫困方法的壓力，第一個出現的點子往往是一個心靈上的救贖，問題是這世上可能還有更好的方法，或許就在我們眼界外面一點的地方。但我們卻接受「提早結案」，只因為丟棄一個「判斷」是痛苦且令人不安的，因此，當我們想出一個「點子」，我們往往花很多力氣去辯護它而不是質疑它。

Rumelt 描述的是另一個人類大腦普遍出現的缺陷，背後的原因似乎跟理性是否能有效抑制感性有關。當我們處在一個困境時，動物的本能會讓我們非常想要掙扎離開這裡，因為實在太難受。當初溺水時瘋狂找尋浮木的動物應該有比較高的存活機率，因此這個本能被 hard-code 到我們的 DNA 裡面。後來人類發展出了理性，在困境時如果能善用它，找出最好脫困方案的機率應該更高。但可惜理性存在的時間還不夠久，這樣的能力還沒被寫入 DNA 裡面，因此我們常常必須跟本能對抗，才能在困境時冷靜的使用理性。

好在思考企業策略並不是真的溺水，只是微微趨向「想要趕快做點什麼來改變這個困頓」而已。我們只需要時時提醒自己，去反覆質疑每一個點子，尤其是對照之前寫下來的問題與限制清單，不斷練習後，就能夠慢慢變成壓抑動物本能的大師。

【林世雄／台中報導】台中市長胡志強上午到后里馬場，參觀台中市后里區花卉藝術文化活動的比賽得獎作品，他看到一件以黃色小鴨為設計基礎的得獎作品，有感而發地說，這件作品看起來比較有活意，而且利用地方生品的文心蘭為主題，很有特色，是一個有十足創意的作品，受到大家的讚賞，「如果與真正的黃色小鴨擺在一起，會贏得更多的掌聲！」
 
他說，這件以台灣在地的原創者，利用在地花材文心蘭及火鶴做成的小鴨，只要風吹過來，看起來就像羽毛會動，而出名的黃色小鴨則是PVC塑膠做的，而且是外國人的作品，所以這個由台灣原創者做出來的文心蘭小鴨，讓我們大家更感動。
 
他表示，市府目前正積極研究，把這次比賽得獎的作品，移到新社花海一併展覽，讓台中能夠花名遠播，市府也要把台中宣傳為「亞太花都」，讓產業值提升，觀光人口增加，民眾生活更提升。
 
胡志強在會場碰巧也碰到一群前來校外教學的幼稚園小朋友，他開心地和小朋友們一起拍照後離去。
