美聯西區的任何一支球隊前幾年如果能在賽季前半段能取得四場勝利，就意味著該隊很可能分區排名第一，是季後賽的大熱門，而今年的情況大不相同，因為美聯西區已經是NFL最強的分區。

該區傳統強隊電光前八周戰績剛好是4勝4負，而他們在分區中不得不仰望7勝1負的野馬和9戰全勝的酋長，電光四分衛瑞佛斯（Philip Rivers）說：「也許這是最近三年NFL最強的分區，主要是因為野馬隊和酋長隊的存在。我們其他時間不需要想他們，除非和他們對陣。」

美聯西區四支球隊前九周一共取得23場勝利，比第二好的國聯西區多二場，而且美西對過去的豪強分區國東的戰績十分出色，在對陣牛仔、巨人、紅人和老鷹時，美西四隊獲得9勝3負的戰績。

11月份是美西的內戰期，野馬本周挑戰電光之後在三周內與酋長火拚兩次，酋長則在與野馬的兩次對陣之間，與電光交戰一場。

NBC已經將黃金時段留給了野馬和酋長的對決，而賽季前確定的比賽是包裝工和巨人，但是包裝工核心羅傑斯（Aaron Rogers）受傷缺陣，而戰績糟糕的巨人早早失去了晉級希望，所以這場比賽吸引力明顯不如美西內戰。

另外，興霖食品股份有限公司(五木拉麵)代工的麵製品，以及台糖公司生產、添加銅葉綠素鈉的「台糖活力丸家海菜貢丸」，北市也下架13項共1 萬3923件。

鼻頭角瘋狗浪釀成悲劇，但觀光局東北角風管處長竟說「政府只有道義責任」，遭到朝野立委砲轟，交通部政務次長陳純敬則代為澄清，處長發言的意思「應該也包括政府責任」，他會去釐清是否有推卸責任，若是如此，非常不妥」。對於家屬要求官員下台，他強調，會再檢討是否有涉及疏忽，若有人為疏忽或不適任官員，會做適當處理。

陳純敬說，後續處理將由新北市及觀光局等相關單位一起處理，包括短期及立即檢討方案會出來。未來如果有些危險又不適合做防護措施者，會考慮改道。
