以色列新的民意調查發現，大部分以色列人皆反對新一輪以巴和談中多樣議題的內容，其中包含領土歸屬、難民回歸，以及是否建立巴勒斯坦國等長久以來爭議性的問題。由美國國務卿凱瑞（John Kerry）主要推動，號稱能夠達成「永久性結束」目標的談判，將面臨重大考驗。

由美國主導的以色列和巴勒斯坦新一輪談判，期待在對話停滯三年之後，於今後九個月內，完成旨在永久性結束衝突的談判。

凱瑞說：「所有問題都放在談判桌上，目標很簡單：結束衝突、結束爭議。」他樂觀地指出，以巴雙方均已承諾將透過「持續、連貫以及就核心問題的實質性談判」，來解決目前存在的分歧問題。

以色列民調憂心忡忡

然而，根據一項由「自由以色列民主研究所（IDI）」所負責、特拉維夫大學協辦的民意調查顯示，大多數以色列人可能會反對許多與以巴和平協議的內容，其中包含涉及撤回1967年的停火線等議題，調查報告警告，就算以色列政府努力達成了與巴勒斯坦人的協議，但要說服以色列人在公投中附議，也並非易事。

調查顯示，65.6％的受訪者對以色列和巴勒斯坦之間的談判能夠在一年內完成不抱期待。被訪問的602人中，55.5％的受訪者表示，他們反對以1967以巴六日戰爭前的停火線區分疆界，哪怕是能喚回猶太人屯墾區合法化的條件。以色列當中佔人口多數的猶太人公民，有63％反對這樣的協議，反觀巴勒斯坦公民，只有15％的受訪者反對這樣的交易。

在難民問題上，大約67％的以色列人說，他們反對讓1948年建國時逃離或被趕出以色列的難民返回，也反對以國家的經費來補償這些難民，或者是他們的後代。

至於有關在耶路撒冷城裡的阿拉伯居民區，是否應該成為一個巴勒斯坦國的問題上，50％的以色列猶太人反對，55％的以色列巴勒斯坦人贊成。

雙方對談判結果皆不樂觀

對於談判的結果，以色列談判代表利弗尼表示，經過多年的僵局，她仍然對和談的未來充滿希望，但是，她也不會過於「天真」。

另一方面，巴勒斯坦政府的處境也同樣不容樂觀。最近一些政治團體都在要求暫停會談，譴責這個由美國主持，從20世紀90年代初以來不斷重複的「無意義且有害」談判。

加上以色列內閣剛剛通過同意繼續增加猶太人屯墾區以及相關財務支持，巴勒斯坦方面將在下週做出抗議的回應，甚至強調：「以色列以這次和談為掩蓋，繼續建設屯墾區，這些行為可能會讓接下來的和談胎死腹中。」

目前，首輪華盛頓會談已經結束，以巴雙方的談判代表已經同意第二次會晤將在今後兩星期內，在以色列或巴勒斯坦境內舉行。
