埃及警方周三(14日) 開槍掃射抗議民眾，至少造成95人喪生，埃及政府立即宣布國內進入緊急狀態，將為期一個月。

抗議民眾的訴求是讓已遭罷黜的埃及總統穆希 (Mohamed Mursi) 復職。

根據《法新社》報導，軍隊以武力驅散抗議民眾，埃及首都陷入一片混亂，穆斯林兄弟會聲稱死亡人數達2200人，超過5000人受傷，但官方公布的死亡人數為95人。

在開羅東北的阿達維亞清真寺廣場 (Rabaa al-Adawiya) ，數千名穆希支持者已靜坐抗議長達6周，鎮暴警察戴著防毒面具蹲在戰車後面，噴灑催淚瓦斯，接著燃燒的輪胎竄出黑煙。

根據《路透社》報導，記者在一間醫院太平間附近看到了29具屍體，其中包括12歲小男孩，多數都死於頭部中彈。該醫院一名護士稱，她已經看到60具屍體，而且認為這數字還會上升。.

埃及傳血腥鎮壓後，副總統艾巴拉迪(Mohammed ElBaradei) 表示，國家應用和平方式解決政治動亂，為抗議政府暴力鎮壓的行為，他已向臨時總統請辭，且立即生效。

英國戰地記者、阿拉伯聯合大公國的波灣記者均在今日採訪過程中，遭埃及警方掃射波及，不幸中槍身亡。
